June 16th, 2025: Understanding consumers' habits and other news
Asia markets, US market forecasts, something to read about consumers in 2025, distillery news, sugar cane in Peru and more...
Happy Monday everyone!
I had to wait until noon, poor day for news today, but here is what I found worth reading. Most of the articles come from The Spirits Business this time.

Market news
India and Southeast Asia to balance sales drop in China
According to the International Wine and Spirits Research (IWSR), India and Southeast Asia seem to be bright spots in a difficult global situation. Here is the article by Eloise Feilden on The Spirits Business:
…and forecasts
WSWA Q2 forecasts on US spirits market: sales from -4.6% to -4.09% by end of 2026.
Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) released its SipSource second-quarter (Q2) forecast figures. It estimates total spirits will fall by 4.6% by the end of 2025 and improve to -4.09% by Q2 2026. Tequila is expected to perform best: +1% in the next 12 months.

Is this forecast in any way useful to us?

Responsible drinking campaigns
IARD’s CSR actions and campaigns in June ’25
Gobal Drinks Intel. is publishing a report by the International Alliance for Responsible Drinking (IARD), that lists up its members’ social, environmental and governance efforts during the month.
You will realise, this content is a bit advertising, but I think it’s worth being aware of what they are doing.
The IARD is “a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to reducing harmful drinking and promoting understanding of responsible drinking”. It is supported by some of the biggest global beer, wine, and spirits companies, like Bacardi, DIAGEO, Suntory, Pernod Ricard and others.
Do you remember we were talking about communication and alcohol consumption? (press review here, the news filtering tips). The IARD has to do with that.
